In my classroom, I believe in being a facilitative teacher. I will act as my students’ guide during the daily lessons and will introduce material, and the students will be appropriately challenged. I believe they should work together and individually to come up with solutions. This will allow them to become active learners, which will be beneficial in their future schooling. The material will be developmentally appropriate as well as interesting, engaging, and relevant. I believe that students should enjoy learning and should see school as a positive way of life. I believe the classroom environment should be welcoming and safe, and the students will be encouraged to and should feel comfortable asking questions and sharing information.
I believe that it is important for me to get to know each of my students individually and their families on a personal level. I will learn about each of my students’ needs and will teach accordingly. I believe it is important that the students assess themselves and take ownership in their learning. The students will check their school work on a daily basis and track their improvements as well check themselves and their individual contributions to society. I believe that students should show good character traits inside and outside of the classroom, and I will be an example of that for them.
I believe that communication is key in the classroom. I will have open communication with my students and their parents and will participate in writing notes and emailing on a daily basis. I believe that assessing my students’ work on a formal and informal basis is a necessity. I will clearly define instructions before every lesson, and will be certain that every student understands and is able to complete the task at hand. Students will complete all of their work neatly and to the very best of their ability.
